60 years as an elder!
One of our elders, Mr Alexander Ingram (Sandy), celebrated 60 years as an elder within the Church of Scotland on Sunday 31 May.
He was presented with a certificate by the Rev John Duncan, our Interim Moderator, and Sandy's good friend Dr Joe Morrow said a few words.
Sandy became an elder on 15 May 1966 in St John’s Church, Cupar.
He moved to Forfar in 1973 attending the then East Church which joined with the Old Parish Church to become East and Old, and in 1974 Sandy joined the new Kirk Session there.
In 1984 he moved to live in Glamis and became a member of the Kirk Session at Glamis Kirk (now part of Strathmore Parish).
During his more active time in Glamis, Sandy was Session Clerk for several years and masterminded many very successful musical events at Glamis Castle for church funds.
Sandy continues to do door duty at Glamis and still organises the elders for Communion services.
